On September 24, DevTalks returns to Cluj-Napoca for another full day dedicated to software, technology, learning and, perhaps most importantly, the people behind all of it.
This year’s edition takes place at Cluj Innovation Park and brings together developers, architects, technology leaders, students and people taking their first steps into the industry.
DevTalks has been part of the Romanian technology landscape for many years, and it is an event I have been happy to support for quite some time, both personally and through Burzcast. Our involvement has taken different forms over the years, from community partnership to interviews from the event and even moderating the Main Stage remotely during the pandemic.
For 2026, Burzcast is once again a Community Partner of DevTalks Cluj-Napoca.
Three stages and an international line-up
The conference programme is divided across three stages: Main, Java and Programming, covering a broad range of subjects relevant to people building and operating modern software.
Among the speakers joining this year’s edition are Mey Beisaron, Senior Platform Engineer at NVIDIA; Loïc Magnette, Senior Java Developer at Oniryx; and Anders Lybecker, Principal Architect at Microsoft.
They will be joined by many other local and international speakers throughout the day.
I have always appreciated this aspect of DevTalks. It is broad enough to bring different parts of our industry together, while remaining technical enough to make the conversations worthwhile for people who actually design, build and maintain software.
More than conference talks
Some of the most interesting conversations at a technology conference often happen away from the main stage, and DevTalks has increasingly built the event around that idea.
The Roundtable Area will host technical masterclasses and discussions covering subjects including artificial intelligence, coding, GitHub Copilot and technologies that are changing the way we design and build software.
There is also an Expo Area, with 25 partner companies and exhibitors presenting technologies, projects and opportunities throughout the day.
For experienced professionals, this makes DevTalks an opportunity not only to hear from speakers, but also to meet other people working on interesting problems across the industry.
And something for the next generation
One part of this year’s programme that I particularly like is the TechEdu Area.
It is dedicated to children and young technology enthusiasts, with interactive activities around LEGO coding, programming and robotics running throughout the day.
Technology conferences naturally tend to focus on the people already working in our industry. Creating a space where children can experiment, build something and discover programming for themselves is a small but meaningful way of looking further ahead.
And yes, I intend to explore this part of DevTalks with my daughter as well.
